For 9 months I carried you
I watched stretchmarks invade my flawless skin
Like aeroplane trails in the sky
I watched my stomach ever grow
Like a beautiful rose emerging from nowhere roots
Breathing normally became ambitious
And sleeping became a distant memory
As you kicked your tiny feet against your temporary home
To inadvertently let me know
Your cravings once again
9 months went and came far too quickly
Like day turns to night without a thought
And the highs and lows of pregnancy
Once again surfaced themselves
Just before you screamed your way into the world
A nervous wreck at the thought of being a mother
Was I going to be good enough to look after
The beautiful bundle that would become you?
But just like there is a rainbow after rain
I knew we too would survive the lows because of the highs
Seeing your daddy play with you, comfort you
Laugh with you and cry with you
I knew that you were a gift to be cherished
Loved like the evening summer sun
Treasured like the adorning winter Yuletide
For when I am with you and your father
Seeing you smile those little smiles
Like the beautiful sun rays upon glazed windows
And knowing that we have created a beautiful life
I am home
I watched stretchmarks invade my flawless skin
Like aeroplane trails in the sky
I watched my stomach ever grow
Like a beautiful rose emerging from nowhere roots
Breathing normally became ambitious
And sleeping became a distant memory
As you kicked your tiny feet against your temporary home

RIP Unborn Baby
Tiny little body
Quiet little heartbeats.
See this little pea? That's how big you are right now.
But Mommy doesn't know that yet.
Little fingers start to grow
out of tiny little hands.
See this little peanut? That's how big you are right now.
But Mommy doesn't know that yet.
Your tiny legs start to grow
out of your sweet little body.
See this little pencil tip? That's how big your footprints are right now.
But Mommy doesn't know that yet.
But, surprise!
"I'm pregnant."
Suddenly, tragedy.
Weak little heartbeat.
Weak little baby.
See these smiles on our faces? That's how loved you are right now.
But you don't know that yet.

Apart from love
They say they never work
But we will let them know
It’s hard enough being alone
But it’s even harder without each other
Because, even though you’ve left my side
I can still hear you cry
Fear that brings all the doubts and lies
Forgive me please if I can’t show you my love from so far
Your heart and mine,
They’re fragile by the tides
We’re bleeding and bleeding
With nowhere to hide
We’ve got no home,
When we’re set so apart

when i was younger i thought i was
beautiful. not like the other girls, of course, but i thought that
the sun followed me around because it thought i was pretty.
and i am a shop-a-holic. money burns a hole in
the back pocket of my jeans because i love to spend it.
but i do not like to go shopping. i love the idea and hate the activity.
there are few days that trying on clothes brings me
happiness because there are even fewer days that i love my
body enough to look in a mirror.
but i am trying.

i dropped another size!"

So beautiful!! Makes me excited for motherhood, even though that probably won't be happening for a while. Still, what a great, amazing poem.
